Impossible Figure: 2007-03-08

When I first made this one, I couldn’t get it to fit together so I tried making one that would just be a horse shoe, but while I was creating that version I noticed that I could actually make a loop of it anyway. Not sure what went wrong the first time but good thing I didn’t give up!

I think this is the first perspective illusion I used a cutout to emphasize the solidity of a surface, a technique I immediately applied to some previous figures that needed it.


Linework | Fillwork

From the right a wall appears to twist and become floor and ceiling, connection two short sides that have different orientations, this while all the horizontal lines are perfectly level.
