This is a collection of drawing methods I use when working in three point perspective. I wanted to have them documented for my own sake and figured I could just as well publish everything as guides right here on the blog!
Most of the guides are things I have figured out by myself because I did not find any help and I wanted to get things done. Some of them are based upon the little information I actually have found, but so far that amount has not been substantial. This is the major reason why I make my findings available publicly; to help people who are looking for the same kind of information I was trying to find!
Disclaimer: If I say I came up with a method myself while it is documented elsewhere I probably just reinvented the wheel! I do not try to steal credit for anything!
The main concept behind these methods is that they only require you to draw reference lines while not doing any measuring. As I use these methods while drawing in perspective the horizontal and vertical lines in the guides would in perspective originate from vanishing points. This means they are treated just like any other reference line that is drawn between two points but, just that one of the points is a vanishing point.
These methods are displayed on a flat surface but are meant to be useful when drawing in perspective. I employ them in three point perspective, but I see no reason why they would not work in one or two point perspective. The only difference is that you get no reference points for the horizontal and/or the vertical lines.
